Is 1 TB RAM overkill?

Is 1 TB RAM overkill?
Not for high performance computing! At the day job I have an account on such a thing, with 104 cores and 1 T RAM. The other day I was running a program and found it was using 300 GB ram and thought to myself “I can only run three copies of this one!”

Probably Dream Catcher need this sort of thing, but it isn’t uncommon in bioinformatics for example.

I have 128GB RAM. But on my new mini-PC, I will have half that!

RAM memory is necessary when you open many windows on a browser, or use a video editor where you really need RAM.

Today, indeed, 1TB RAM is overkill.
On my first computer, I had 128MB RAM. That is MB, not GB. Not TB!
